Deus Ex and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy developer Eidos Montreal has announced that it will be laying off 75 employees. The company took to LinkedIn to announce this and claims that it doesn’t “have the capacity to entirely relocate them to other ongoing projects and services.” This is notably the company’s second round of recent layoffs as it announced 97 employees laid off back in 2024.
The message regarding the layoff:
“Today, we informed our studio staff that we are going to let go up to 75 valuable members, as one of our mandates is coming to an end,” posted the studio on LinkedIn. “It is not a reflection of their dedication or skills, but unfortunately, we don’t have the capacity to entirely reallocate them to our other ongoing projects and services. These very talented, highly experienced experts are going to enter the employment market, and we are working to support them through this transition.”
Details on the developer’s upcoming game, Fable:
What does it mean to be a hero? In last year’s trailer, that question was answered by Dave, a gardener-turned-giant with a chip on his shoulder. This year, we get a much darker take from Humphry, played by the British comedy actor Matt King. Humphry was once Albion’s greatest Hero, but those glory days are long gone. In Fable, Humphry will be forced out of retirement when a mysterious figure from his past threatens the very existence of Albion.
Playground Games also confirmed its collaboration with Eidos Montreal, who will be supporting the ongoing development of Fable, which will be coming to players in 2025.
