Elden Ring Trailer Shown at SGF Live!

After waiting and hoping for the newest trailer for Elden Ring, the latest offering from From software has been shown during the Summer Games Fest Live! Event. Of course, such a big game, it was only fitting that the game was saved to the very last moments to be seen.

Going into the event, and knowing Namco Bandai will be hosting an event later, I was not really expecting a big showing of the game. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the trailer was chock full of gameplay for gamers to go over.

At its core, the game looks to stick true to the concepts From Software pioneered. You will play as a character, exploring a dark and dreary world filled to the brim with creepy-looking monsters. Combat seems to also stay in line with that of the Souls franchise, relying on close combat against powerful enemies I think it is safe to assume we will all be dying… Like, a lot…

The game stemmed from a collaboration between From Software President Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin, who is of course now world-famous for his Song Of Fire and Ice novels. Miyazaki had contacted the writer, being a fan of his work, in hopes of collaboration. While Miyazaki was the most driving creative force on the project, Martin helped him lay down the framework the game would follow. According to its creator, it was similar to “Dungeon master’s handbook in a tabletop RPG.”

For fans excited for the game I also have great news, the trailer ended with a release date for the game. It will release January 21st, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Microsoft Windows.
