New details about the next nintendo title have allegedly been leaked by alleged leaker NextHandheld on the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit. The user claimed to have access to a non-powered copy. According to their post, which was “verified” by the subreddit’s mod, the console is called Switch 2 and the logo has a giant 2 on the side. Additionally, units of the console are dark grey, but there is allegedly a “full white SKU (both joycons and the tablet)”. The console doesn’t feel heavier than the current Switch, but the buttons and sticks are “marginally larger than the current Switch”. The joycons are magnetically attached to the console and the back buttons are their release buttons. Additionally, according to the post, “the top side of the joycon when detached has a surprise feature,” and “the magnets themselves are buttons.”
The game cartridge slots are similar to the current Switch console but the sticks have a hall effect, and the ZL/ZR buttons are larger than the current Switch. The console will allegedly have a LCD screen but the dock has the same ports of the Switch OLED dock. It is a bit larger but curved and “so much of the screen pops out”. Lastly, the console will allegedly be revealed in January. It’s worth noting all of these details have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo or a reputable source, and as such should be taken with a grain of salt.
Images for Nintendo’s upcoming console successor to the Switch seemingly leaked online back in September. The images are allegedly of the factory prototype which were reportedly leaked on Chinese forums and on Reddit. The images align with past rumors and leaks claiming it has an 8-inch LCD screen, a USB-C port, a kickstand, and more. Additionally, according to VGC and an anonymous source, the images align with the expectations of what the console will look like. According to the images, The Nintendo Switch 2 will reportedly include 12GB of RAM, HDMI 2.1 support, and 256GB of internal storage.
A gameplay trailer for the game was also released.
The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5.
