Playstation’s latest State of Play just wrapped up, and while it was certainly not as thrilling as we had hoped, there were some things to get excited about. We had some new games announced and Forspoken and Ghostwire: Tokyo both got new trailers. Returnal also got some love with new DLC coming later this month. Here is everything Sony showed off during the the State of Play for March 2022:
Exoprimal (New game reveal)
Capcom started off the show with a bang with it’s new team based action game, Exoprimal. This new IP sees players suit up in powered armor to battle dinosaur invasions. The trailer showed different classes of exosuits being used to tackle endless hordes of dinos that poured endlessly from portals, as well as larger boss dinos like a raging triceratops and a ferocious T-Rex. Ghostwire: Tokyo (Launch trailer)
The State of Play broadcast continued with the launch trailer for Ghostwire: Tokyo. The action adventure game from Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks is set to release later this month on March 25th for PS5 and PC.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (New trailer and demo)
The highly anticipated action adventure RPG from Square Enix got a short new trailer during the show, along with the news that a new demo is currently available on PS4 and Ps5. Your progress from the demo will also carry over to the full release. The title is scheduled to release on March 18th on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Forspoken (New trailer)
A surprising inclusion to this State of Play was a new trailer for the recently delayed Forspoken – a new open world game from Luminous Productions. The new trailer shows protagonist Frey battling never before seen monsters across a variety of locations. Forspoken is set to release on October 11th of this year exclusively on PS5.
Gundam Evolution (New game reveal)
The popular Gundam anime series is getting a new free-to-play competitive multiplayer FPS in 2022. Gundam Evolution lets players select from a wide range of Mobile Suits from across the Gundam multiverse and take on enemy players in objective based combat. The network test for the game is coming in spring this year. The game will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection (New game reveal)
Developed by Konami in collaboration with Nickelodeon and Digital Eclipse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is comprises 13 classic Ninja Turtle games spanning from the arcade, NES, Super NES, Genesis and Game Boy. The games will have updated HD textures, as well as more modern quality of life changes such as save and rewind and local and online play for some games.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is coming to PS4 and PS5 this year.
GigaBash (New playable character reveal)
GigaBash had a short trailer revealing another playable character – Rawa, the Extinction Dragon. This four player arena brawler featuring giant monsters, kaijus and heroes is set for an early 2022 release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R (New game reveal)
Let the memes begin. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is a new fighting game based on the immensely popular and meme worthy anime series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the original story and the 10th anniversary of the anime adaptation. Players will be able to select from 50 characters from all JoJo arcs and battle in a variety of game modes. All Star Battle R is based on the fighting style of 2013’s Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure All Star Battle. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R is set to release in early fall of 2022 on PS4 and PS5.
Trek to Yomi (New trailer)
Trek to Yomi is a unique cinematic action adventure game that follows the story of Hiroki, a young swordsman that is sworn to protect his town and the people he loves against all threats. When faced with tragedy, Hiroki must travel beyond life and death to confront himself and decide a path forward. The striking visuals and music evoke the feeling of classic samurai films and create a true cinematic experience. Trek to Yomi is set to release in Spring 2022 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Returnal (New DLC reveal)
Popular roguelike shooter Returnal is getting new DLC this month. The new update adds co-op for the first time, allowing you and a friend to journey through the shifting labyrinth of Atropos together. The new content will also add the Tower of Sisyphus – an ascending gauntlet of increasingly dangerous phases with each containing 20 floors. The Tower of Sisyphus will be available as long as you have unlocked the Icarian Grapnel. The DLC is free and will hit PS5 later this month on March 22nd.
The DioField Chronicle (New game reveal)
The first of a pair of new releases from Square Enix, The DioField Chronicle is a new tactical RPG with a deep, engaging story and a new Real-Time Tactical Battle system. With a fully 3D world and impressive animations, this new RPG is a more modern take on the genre that might help it stand out a bit against Square Enix’s many previous tactics RPGs. The DioField Chronicle is launching on PS4 and PS5 sometime in 2022.
Valkyrie Elysium (New game reveal)
The last game shown in the State of Play was a new entry in the Valkyrie Profile series – Valkyrie Elysium. Drawing heavily from Norse mythology, the series is known for it’s muted colors and melancholic ambiance. This new entry will feature faster combat that incorporates the series classic special attack and combo systems. Valkyrie Elysium is being developed by Square Enix and is set to release on PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
