Summer Games Fest 2022 recently went live and featured an almost overwhelming amount of announcements, trailers, and more. In case you didn’t catch everything, we’ve broken down every major and minor announcement and gameplay reveal that the event had to offer.
Aliens: Dark Descent Announced
Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Tindalos Interactive have announced a new real-time strategy game, Aliens: Dark Descent. The game will launch in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).
American Arcadia Extended Trailer
Publisher Raw Fury and developer Out of the Blue Games released an extended trailer for the upcoming 2.5D platformer and puzzle-solving game American Arcadia.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Dark Water trailer
Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward released a gameplay video for the “Dark Water” level for the upcoming FPS Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The seven-minute video featured complete gameplay of the level, which showcased the next-gen visuals, high octane, explosive gun combat, and more. Additionally, an open beta for the game was also announced and will be available for those who pre-order the game.
The Callisto Protocol Extended Trailer
Publisher KRAFTON and developer Striking Distance Studios showcased the “Schofield Extended Cut” trailer along with the first gameplay footage of the upcoming survival horror game The Callisto Protocol from the game’s director Glen Schofield. The gameplay footage shows off the main character fighting various alien enemies in several areas of the game.
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course Summer Games Fest Presentation
A gameplay presentation video of the upcoming DLC for Cuphead, Cuphead’s The Delicious Last Course was revealed. The game is coming out on June 30.
Flashback 2 Teaser
Microids released a teaser trailer announcing that Flashback 2 will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam this winter.
Fort Solis Reveal Trailer
Developers Fallen Leaf Studio and Black Drakkar Games released a new trailer announcing a new single-player third-person horror game titled Fort Solis. It will launch for PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.
Goat Simulator 3
Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Coffee Stain North announced the third installment in the Goat Simulator series, Goat Simulator 3. The game will launch this fall for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store. The game will also have a physical edition with pre-orders, including the in-game “Pre-udder gear.”
Gotham Knights Nightwing Trailer
Warner Bros. Games and developer WB Games Montreal released a Nightwing character trailer for Gotham Knights. The game will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on October 25.
Honkai: Starrail Cinematic Trailer
miHoYo released a cinematic trailer titled ‘To You Who Will Soon Depart’ for its upcoming turn-based strategy RPG Honkai: Star Rail. The game will launch on PC, iOS, and Android.
Highwater Announced
Publisher Rogue Games and developer Demagog Studio announced Highwater, a new turn-based strategy game set in the same universe as Golf Club: Wasteland and The Cub. The game will launch for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store and iOS and Android via the Netflix app sometime this year.
The Last of Us Part I Remake Summer Games Fest Announcement
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Developer Naughty Dog announced that the remake of the first game in The Last of Us series, The Last of Us Part I, will launch for PlayStation 5 and PC. The remake will sport brand-new AI, 60 FPS, new combat, and more. The game will launch for PlayStation 5 on September 2. A release date for the PC version has yet to be announced.
New Layers of Fears Announced
Bloober Team revealed a new trailer announcing Layers of Fears, a brand new psychedelic first-person horror game in the Layers of Fears horror game series. The game will launch in early 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns Trailer and Release Date
During the Summer Games Fest event, publisher 2K and developer Firaxis Games announced that the upcoming strategy role-playing video game Marvel’s Midnight Suns will launch on October 7 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The game has players fight and strategize by creating a squad of superheroes across The Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and more and customize their abilities, unleashing skills and attacks against Fallen versions of some of Marvel’s iconic superheroes and characters.
Metal: Hellsinger Release Date and Demo
Publisher Funcom and developer The Outsiders announced that the upcoming Rhythm-based first-person shooter Metal: Hellsinger will launch on September 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Additionally, a demo was also released across all platforms.
Midnight Fright Express Release Date Trailer
Humble game announced via a new trailer that the upcoming top-down action game Midnight Fight Express will launch on August 23.
Neon White Release Date Trailer
Annapurna Interactive and developer Ben Esposito announced that the upcoming First-person action game Neon White will launch on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on June 16.
Nightingale Gameplay Trailer
Inflexion Games released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming survival crafting game Nightingale. The game will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam sometime this year.
New One Piece Odyssey Trailer
Bandai Namco and developer ILCA have released a new trailer for the upcoming third-person RPG based on the One Piece series, One Piece Odyssey. A release date was not revealed.
ROUTINE Re-reveal Trailer
Publisher Raw Fury and developer Lunar Software released a “re-reveal trailer” for the upcoming first-person sci-fi horror game ROUTINE. A release date was not announced, but the game will launch for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and via Xbox Game Pass.
Saints Row: Boss Factory Trailer
Publisher Deep Silver and developer Volition announced Saints Row: Boss Factory, a free character creator demo for the upcoming action game Saints Row, which is available now.
Street Fighter 6: Guile Gameplay Reveal Trailer
Capcom released a new gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6 featuring the recurring playable character Guile. Street Fighter 6 will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in 2023.
Stormgate Reveal Trailer
Frost Giant Studios announced Stormgate, a free-to-play real-time strategy game from the former developers of Warcraft III and StarCraft II. A beta for the game was also announced and will release sometime in 2023 via Steam.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge Release Date Trailer
Publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games released a new trailer announcing that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will launch on June 16 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.
Warframe: The Duviri Paradox Tenno Con Teaser
Digital Extremes released a new trailer for the upcoming ‘The Duviri Paradox’ update for its free-to-play multiplayer game Warframe.
Warhammer 40K: Darktide Gameplay Trailer
During the Summer Games Fest live stream, developer Fatshark released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming four-player action cooperative game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Additionally, the developer also announced that the game’s PC version will launch with NVIDIA DLSS, Ray Tracing, and Reflex. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will launch for Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on September 13.
Witchfire Gameplay Trailer
Developer The Astronauts released a new trailer for its upcoming dark fantasy first-person shooter Witchfire. The game will be released soon in Early Access for PC via Epic Games Store.
Zenless Zone Zero’ 3, 2, 1… 11′ Combat Trailer
miHoYo released a new “3, 2, 1… 11.” gameplay trailer for its upcoming “urban fantasy action RPG” Zenless Zone Zero, showcasing the game’s combat. A release date was not announced, but the game will launch for PC and iOS devices.
