Evil Dead Showcases Gameplay at SGF Live!

Often, there are films you look at and wonder “Did they have any idea that what they were creating would become such a massive Presence in the world?” Such is the case with the little horror film that could, The Evil Dead. And yet, all these years later, a film that was made on a shoestring budget is a massive franchise with several films, a tv series, a reboot, and video games.

At the Summer Games Fest, hosted by Geoff Keighly, we got to see what is in store for the franchise when it returns to the gaming world with The Evil Dead: The Game. And yes, before you ask, Bruce Campbell is narrating the trailer.

The game plays similar games that have entered this arena, including Dead By Daylight, Friday The 13th: The Game, and several others. The most noticeable difference however is that your characters can fight back. This shakeup looks very vital both to capturing the feel of the Evil Dead Franchise and setting itself apart from its contemporaries.

Players will take control of several characters, including Ash Williams, throughout the franchise history to fight the Deadites in familiar locations. While four players control the heroes an additional player controls Kandarian Demon who is attempting to kill the player. Unlike the other enemies, you will require special items, such as pages from the Necronomicon to turn the pages on them.

While battling through the levels the players can also loot and craft to help them in their struggle. Be careful, because characters will also have a fear level that must be managed during the game as well.

Evil Dead: The Game will be released in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
