It was revealed by Ubisoft, the official Far Cry 5 key art, which confirms that the game is not in a Western setting (as it was rumored), but is actually set in modern time.
Earlier this week, Ubisoft revealed that the upcoming installment in the series was set in Hope County, Montana alongside the release of four teaser vignettes showcasing the different landscapes found in the region.
Check out the released kay art of Far Cry 5:
This new key art shows off what is presumably the main villain of the game and his entourage for the first time using imagery modeled after of The Last Supper of Jesus Christ. This along with the church in the background, the prisoner with the word “sinner” on his back, the bread, and the “holy grail” seems to heavily suggest that there is some type of religious cult theme going on.
As mentioned earlier, the game is clearly doesn’t have a Western setting, as you can see via the clothing, planes, and weaponry, this suggest a more modern approach.
Ubisoft announced that a worldwide reveal is set for Friday, May 26th. Far Cry 5 is in development for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and is slated to launch sometime within Ubisoft’s current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2018.
