The official listing of Far Cry 6 on the Xbox Store has confirmed that the game will launch on May 26, 2021.
It what it seems like a miscommunication between Ubisoft and Xbox, the game’s release date has now been officially confirmed. The game was originally scheduled to release on February 18, 2021, but was delayed “in order to enable the game to reach its full potential”.
Xbox Store’s leak might have some veracity as recently CEO Yves Guillemot affirmed in Ubisoft’s Q3 Financial Year 2020 Investor Call that the publisher will release five AAA games in 2021. Ubisoft may have chosen to delay Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Far Cry 6 to strengthen its portfolio to fulfill its goals for the next financial year.
Revealed at Ubisoft Forward, not much was disclosed about the game, a cinematic trailer revealed that Breaking Bad’s actor Giancarlo Esposito will be the main antagonist. Players will be fighting for the rebel side against a tyrannical government.
Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.
Castillo’s army is running roughshod over the populace, and the violent clashes starkly with the serene Caribbean waters, pristine beaches, and rich tropical forests of Yara. Your guerrilla campaign will sweep across the island, from the rural farmlands to the streets of Esperanza, the franchise’s first urban environment to date. And you won’t be fighting alone; many of the people and animals who call Yara home are fed up with Castillo’s reign and would do anything to stop him from grooming his son, Diego (played by Anthony Gonzalez of “Coco”), to take over his regime. With a powerful array of weapons, vehicles, and allies behind you — including Chorizo, the dangerously distracting wiener dog — Castillo is in for a fight.
Far Cry 6
will launch for Amazon Luna, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia.
