Switch owners can finally rejoice, as the first Nintendo Direct event of the year has finally been announced by Nintendo. Better yet, there is not a long wait for the event as it will be occurring on February 9th, at 5 pm Eastern Time.
Nintendo has announced that the event would be “roughly 40 minutes,” long and that it would focus on games that are set to launch during the “first half of 2022.” This means that players hoping to see more of the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild 2 might not get their wish, but Nintendo has plenty of other games the event could focus on.
Games that we know will release during the first half of 2022 include Square Enix’s Triangle Strategy, Wayforward’s Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, and Nintendo’s own Kirby and the Forgotten Land that could all get showcases or trailers during the event. On the flip side, Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope all have a tentative 2022 release, and could finally get dates or more info during this event.
Arguably the biggest game that Nintendo had going into this year was Pokemon Legends Arceus, which was just released at the end of January to massive sales. With the game’s open-world nature, it is always possible to see Nintendo announce more content for it moving forward.
All of that doesn’t include games that have yet to be announced, which obviously we really couldn’t talk about since we have no idea what Nintendo might not have shown us yet. You can always expect a Nintendo Direct to pull one game out of their sleeve to shock and surprise us, and at 40 minutes, I would not be surprised if this event did as well.
Either way, there should be a lot to go over by the end of this Nintendo Direct. Again, the Nintendo Direct will be held on February 9th, 2022, at 2 pm Pacific Time and 5 pm Eastern Time.
