Scraping Bottom Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming game Fictorum: an action RPG where you play as a wizard with access to legendary magic. The crowdfunding campaign is set to last until Friday, July 21 and is seeking $25,000.
The player can become a powerful wizard of a forbidden magical order, the Fictorum, with the unique ability to shape and master all schools of magic. Stretching the limits of their power, they have survived their own execution at the hands of the Inquisition, a sprawling theocratic empire focused on eradicating all Fictorum.
Check out the Kickstarter video for Fictorum, featuring some gameplay footage where we can see various spells being casted:
“As the last of the order, the player must shatter the Inquisition as vengeance for their exterminated brethren, as well as anyone else who dares to stand in their path.
Fictorum has received a substantial amount of interest over the last year; the project has gone viral with several reddit posts during that time and, most recently, with an imgur gallery featuring several spells and features in-game that received over 100,000 views in 24 hours.”
“We are incredibly grateful for the massive, positive response that we’ve received from the video gaming community,” said Chip Flory, lead developer at Scraping Bottom Games. “One of the toughest fights as an indie game studio is to be noticed, and we have absolutely gotten that. We’re very excited for the days to come.”
“Scraping Bottom Games is the brainchild of Chip Flory and Greg Curran, two high school buddies turned college roommates turned longtime friends. Fictorum is the company’s first project, which came to be in March of 2015, shortly after the announcement from Epic that the Unreal Engine is now free to use. After a decade of playing games together, Greg mentioned to Chip that he wanted to try making video games instead of just playing them, and so the project began.”
