FIFA 21 Will Not Support Next-Gen Features on PC

During EA Play Live 2020 at Summer Game Fest, the company announced that the upcoming FIFA 21 will be coming for PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well Valve’s digital distribution giant, Steam. But the EA FAQ confirmed something that will certainly disappoint PC  players as the game will launch with with the exact same PS4/Xbox One version.

According to EA, PC players will have to wait until 2021 for experience the ‘blazing fast load times,’ controller haptics which allow you to ‘sense’ the impact of shots, tackles, and the like, and the ‘most authentic character behaviours ever seen in sports video games.’

FIFA 21 will launch worldwide on October 9, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and Origin , Google Stadia subscribers will have to wait until the winter to get the game. EA Access and Origin Access Basic members will be able to try the game starting October 1st. All Access members will continue to receive on-going benefits in FIFA throughout the season.

FIFA 21 will also offer what EA calls Dual Entitlement, this is a free upgrade for next-gen systems. Interestingly, the FAQ from EA might suggest that a discless version of Xbox Series X might be coming in holidays, the highly anticipated Project Scarlet under the speculated name Xbox Series S is expected to ditch the optical drive in favor of a more compact and less powerful device.

FIFA 21 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be a digital version of the game which you’ll be able to download once the game launches later this year. If you buy a physical copy of FIFA 21, you’ll need the disc to be inserted into your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X to be able to launch FIFA 21 on those consoles. If you intend to buy a discless console, you will need to purchase FIFA 21 digitally to take advantage of the Dual Entitlement offer as physical discs cannot currently be used to upgrade to discless consoles.
