In 1987 the final touch was being put on a game that would help introduce the West to Japanese-style role-playing games of course we know its name was Fighting Fantasy. Oh, wait for a second, that name was already copyrighted. So they changed the name to Final Fantasy and the rest is history. Well now finally fantasy aims to return players to the world from whence it all started with Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
A trailer for the rumored game released to end out the Square Enix Presents live stream today. In it, we get a look at combat and some story beats.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is being developed by Final Fantasy veterans Tetsuya Nomura and Kazushige Nojima in conjunction with Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo Games. These teams have already collaborated in the past with games such as Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
As far as gameplay is concerned it is unfair to compare to the likes of Dark Souls. Why you might ask, well because Team Ninja already has a fast-paced souls game serving as inspiration. If anything this is a Final Fantasy meets Nioh situation as the combat flow seems very fast.
