Reports are coming in from a website called FanByte that Square Enix and Team Ninja are making a Final Fantasy spin-off title that is going to play similar to a Dark Souls game. For those who do not know, Team Ninja is most famous for developing challenging titles in the past such as Ninja Gaiden for the original Xbox and Xbox 360 and most recently Nioh and Nioh 2 for the PlayStation 4 and PC. The game is also going to be titled Final Fantasy Origins and will apparently take place in one of the first worlds of the very first Final Fantasy ever created on the NES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System.)
Final Fantasy Origins is planning to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive that is eventually going to also release on PC later down the line. It is going to be one of the flagship titles to be revealed at this Square Enix’s E3 show next month. There will be a playable alpha demo released to the public sometime this summer so that the developer can gather feedback. The demo is going to have its own title and will be called “Stranger in Paradise” The game is expected to play similar to Nioh, but a bit more accessible for the mainstream audience with the Final Fantasy style and aesthetics sprinkled on top of it.
The entire rumor is unconfirmed and needs to be taken with a massive grain of salt. It’s worth noting that this specific gossip was also circulating a lot around Reddit and ResetEra for the past few days. Gaming Instincts will be keeping their eyes peeled for anymore updates in regards to Final Fantasy Origins.
