Final Fantasy VII Remake Physical Copies May be Scarce Due to Coronavirus

Square Enix has just confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake won’t be delayed, but players could have a hard time to get a physical copy of the game. The developer claims that due to Coronavirus, there had been “unforeseeable changes in the distribution” this will affect several countries. Square Enix warns fans that some will not be able to get a copy of the game on the release date.

According to reports, Amazon’s new policy of prioritizing essential items has affected the gaming industry, pre-orders owners of Final Fantasy VII Remake copies might feel like the game is actually delayed as they won’t receive the copy of the game at the release date.

“We are seeing increased online shopping, and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock,” reads an email from Amazon (via Business Insider). “With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver these products to customers.”

The situation is pretty bad for pre-order owners as not receiving the copy of the game on April 10 surely would feel like a delay. Square Enix is looking for other ways to handle the situation, on March 20, they will give an update about how will they try to guarantee the supply for people who had already bought a copy of the game.

We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis and working with our partners, retailers and Square Enix teams across Europe and the Americas, to do everything we can to ensure as many of you as possible can play the game on April 10.

We want to keep you updated ahead of the release and intend to post again this Friday, March 20 with any further news.
