Nintendo has announced a raft of Final Fantasy games are coming to Switch in 2019. The headline is Final Fantasy 12 Zodiac Age.
This version of the game was first released on PlayStation 4 and then on PC earlier this year. Zodiac Age is a remaster of the International Zodiac Job System version of the game, which was previously only released in Japan.
Final Fantasy 7, 9, 10 and 10-2 are also coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019 – the first time these games will have appeared on a Nintendo console. There was no mention of Final Fantasy 8, for some reason.
Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD hits Nintendo Switch imminently. There’s a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered game also coming to Switch.
Here is the official statement via Nintendo:
“High-definition versions of some of the most beloved Final Fantasy games of all time are coming to Nintendo Switch. This includes Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 10-2. This is the first time any of these Final Fantasy games have been released on a Nintendo console.
“In addition, Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD will soon be available to download in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, and three other games in the Final Fantasy universe will launch on Nintendo Switch in the near future: The levelled-up edition of World of Final Fantasy Maxima launches on 6th November, Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon EVERY BUDDY! launches this winter, and Nintendo GameCube co-op game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition with online multiplayer and no need for a link cable comes to Nintendo Switch in 2019.”

The first game announced was World of Final Fantasy Maxima, a new remastered version of World of Final Fantasy. This new version includes a feature called avatar change, which allows players to transform into fan favorite characters from other Final Fantasy games. World of Final Fantasy Maxima releases on Nintendo Switch on Nov. 6.
Also announced is a new remastered version of Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon, called Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! and is set to release this winter. This remake now allows players to befriend every creature in each and every dungeon as well as play through the entire game with a friend with the addition of cooperative play.
