Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Now Available, Launch Trailer

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age finally released on the PS4 today. Along with the release of one of the best RPGs of the PS2 generation, we get a trailer that shows how well the Japanese RPG has aged — with the obligatory nips and tucks for current gen, to make it look all lovely and delightful.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age features the unique and innovative gambit system, now updated and joined by the brand-new Zodiac Job System, which overhauls the original License Board system and gives players the ability to develop two of 12 jobs for each character. These updates, alongside the newly implemented speed mode, auto-save functionality, and shortened loading times, will allow players to experience a grand adventure that spans the world of Ivalice in an entirely fresh and improved way.

Of course, those who played the western versions of the original PS2 game have plenty of new things to look forward to, including the titular Zodiac Job System, which gives a make-over to the original License Board and lets players chose among twelve classic Final Fantasy jobs for their favorite characters.

We also get the new speed mode for those in a hurry, auto-save, and shorter loading times to make the experience even more pleasant.

All things considered, it will be interesting to see how well Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age performs in terms of sales. Considering the fact that the original version launched in 2006, there’s a good chance that enough years have passed for ardent fans to want to return to the title due to its updates, while there are surely a plethora of other newbies who are ready to give the game a go for the first time.
