Square Enix has just unveiled a brand new version of the ten-year-old Final Fantasy XII, which heading to the PlayStation 4 in 2017.
The announcement arrived in the form of a short teaser on the publisher’s YouTube channel, which features a brief look at footage of the reworked game in action. It looks rather lovely – the world of Ivalice still a mystifying and beautiful place.
The remaster is also subtitled The Zodiac Age, implying it may introduce the Zodiac job system and rejigged combat from the Japan exclusive International Edition.
Check out the Trailer:
“Bear in mind, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age is a remaster and not a remake. This means that they have just upgraded the graphics to make them brighter and cleaner so it’s not a total makeover like with the upcoming release of Final Fantasy 7.
Even though the game is a remaster, the graphics still look pretty decent. The trailer shows a good mix of cinematics and gameplay footage. Not to mention it reveals that the game will be coming out for the PS4 sometime in 2017.
This is not the first PS2 Final Fantasy game to get remastered on PS4. Square Enix already released Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 HD for the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita consoles. Sadly, it looks like only the PS4 is getting the remastered version of Final Fantasy 12.”
