The game will be set in a parallel world, the story will starts just after Noctis and his entourage begin their epic journey. New regions and some recycled assets could be included in the mobile MMORPG.

Square Enix announced a few years ago the development of a Final Fantasy XV game for China, scheduled for 2019, the title never released. AndroidCentral reports that Square Enix revisited the idea, and push for a global release.

No more information is shared, it’s unknown if the game will be free-to-play with micro-transactions, or if the game would release on similar handheld devices like Nintendo Switch.

As explained by gosunoob the Asian market is ” is extremely lucrative, especially for mobile editions of popular PC and console games.”

Final Fantasy XV is one of the most popular games in the franchise, being teased for nearly two decades, certainly will appeal to the Asian market. The game was developed and published by Square Enix, releasing first on the PS4 and Xbox One, to later release for the PC and last year, being the Google’s Stadia launch title.

Final Fantasy XV’s development began in 2006 as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the game was planned to be a spin-off, but later grew to become a next mainline title in 2012. Tetsuya Nomura was the original director and character designer for the title but was later replaced by Hajime Tabata.

Square Enix also envisioned “Final Fantasy XV Universe“, this project was meant to include spin-off games, animated series, and a feature film.
