Many hoping the “later in the fiscal year” quote from EA in January meant the game would be out in time for the holidays, will be a bit disappointed.
Bioware said today expect more information on the game during EA Play next month at E3 2016, but did provide the following details on what to expect from the next Mass Effect:
More Freedom: Players will be given an unprecedented level of freedom from where you’ll go, how you’ll get there, and how you’ll play.
New Uncharted Worlds: So long Milky Way and hello Andromeda. Meet meet new allies, confront new enemies, and explore fascinating new worlds.
The Next Great Mass Effect Experience: This will be the first Mass Effect game for today’s consoles and the first built on the Frostbite engine. Technology is being pushed to deliver visuals, story, and gameplay that have never been done in franchise history.
“Details on how exactly that will be accomplished are predictably thin—more freedom, new worlds, allies, and enemies, and of course the power of theFrostbite engine—but playtesting is “showing us that we’re taking the game in the right direction,” he continued. “But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be—that’s our commitment from all of us to all of you. Because of that, Mass Effect: Andromeda will now ship in early 2017.”
