Nintendo has just announced a new Fire Emblem title inspired by the 1992 Fire Emblem Gaiden, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will release on 19th May in both North America and Europe.
In 1992, the second game in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Gaiden, launched exclusively in Japan. Now, for the first time, fans outside of Japan will get a taste of this classic game on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is inspired by the 1992 original, reimagined on a grander scale. Every aspect of the Fire Emblem Gaiden game’s presentation has been updated, along with the game being fully voiced. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia recreates classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a modern twist, mixing in exploration of dungeons crawling with enemies.

“In addition to the core game, two new amiibo will be released for the lead characters.
The core plot revolves around Alm and Celica, two warriors on opposing sides of a battle between North and South kingdoms on the continent of Valentia. The key hook that the game is taking from Gaiden is the sense of free-roaming, flexible character progression and the presence of dungeons. A reimagining, it should provide a fairly distinct experience from the formula seen in Fire Emblem: Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates.”
