Reinforcing the decision to drop the Season Pass model, the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will begin on December 3, 2019.
According to the official Tweet, Season One of Modern Warfare will be their “most ambitious season of content ever.” The season will be free on all platforms when it launches.
To prepare fans for the upcoming season, Activision also announced a double XP event that Infinity Ward is activating from November 27-December 2, 2019. The event will allow players to complete the Officer Progression already on their plates. Once Season One begins, gamers’ Officer Rank “achieved up until the start of Season 1 will be locked and memorialized with all the ribbons and final Officer Rank [they] have earned.”
Players also have one last opportunity to unlock the two weapon blueprints as rewards for reaching specific ranks (the Hush at Rank 56, and the O.G. at Rank 155). Moreover, once the season begins, gamers who reached Rank 56 or higher “will have their Officer Rank refreshed, beginning a new journey up the Season 1 Officer Progression track (from rank 56 to 155).” The new season will implement 100 additional ribbons players can earn through a new set of challenges.
The double XP applies only to players still in the Enlisted Ranks (Ranks 1-55) and does not require anyone to use any of their Double XP tokens, because the tokens do not stack with the event’s increased experience gains.
Fans interested in the double XP event, advice on how to rank up as quickly as possible (such as completing ten Public matchmaking wins, which grants 5,000 XP), and the upcoming season can read more on the official Activision blog.
