Microids and Paul Cuisset announced today the development of Flashback 2, the sequel to the 1992 classic. The game will launch in 2022 for PC and consoles.
Flashback 2 is being produced under the supervision of Paul Cuisset, the former lead designer of Delphine Software and creator of Flashback, a game listed in the Guinness World Record as the best-selling French game of all time during its prime days.
The original Flashback is a critically acclaimed game for its innovative gameplay and smooth character animations. The game released in the early 1990s reaching a legendary status thanks to its rich and engaging story.
In Flashback, players take the role of Conrad B. Hart, an agent for the Galaxia Bureau of Investigation. After learning of a plot involving aliens disguised as government officials who want to destroy the Earth, Conrad makes a copy of his memory, just in case he’s captured and has his memory erased by the aliens. Hart is captured, has his memory erased, and is being followed by his captors.
Publishing a sequel to Flashback is a real honor for Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids: “We are super excited to offer the fans a sequel to this masterpiece of the French video game history. At Microids, we thrive for delivering projects highlighting the craft of talented individuals. Paul Cuisset is a French hall of fame known internationally. We are proud to work hand in hand with him and his team on this project.”.
“Developing a sequel to Flashback is an idea I’ve had for a very long time. I can’t wait for players to discover the new adventures of Conrad B. Hart, a character created almost 30 years ago. With Microids, we are really aiming to please the fans of the original title while being appealing to any players with a weak spot for futuristic games“ adds Paul Cuisset.
Microids is a French video game developer and publisher based in Paris. The company was established in 1985 and has remained relevant to the industry ever since.
Flashback 2 will see the return of Conrad B. Hart in an action platformer setting.
