Forspoken has officially been delayed from it’s original release date of May 24th to October 11th. Luminous Productions, the developer of the new magic-based RPG announced the delay on Twitter today, stating that they will use the extra time to polish the game, as “getting it right is extremely important” to them:
We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.
Forspoken, originally called Project Athia, is an open world RPG in which players take control of Frey Holland, a young woman who is transported from her home in New York City to the fantasy world of Athia. Frey must use her magical powers and the guidance of her sentient bracelet, Cuff, to journey through this cruel new world in order to free Athia from the tyrannical rule of the Tantas and find her way home. The gameplay of Forspoken is focused on speed and fluidity of movement over terrain, similar to games like Infamous or Prototype. The game is being developed for Playstation 5, which it will be exclusive to for two years. The game will feature ray tracing for enhanced lighting effects and procedurally generated terrain for the creation of large scale locations.
