As we all know Fortnite has taken the world by storm since its release a few years ago. Pulling in over 250 million players as of March of this year, every move Epic Games has made with their franchise has been under a microscope. Epic Games has given us 10 seasons of the Battle Royale, the latest one being called “The End”. However, after watching numerous reactions, it doesn’t seem like anyone saw the end result of this Epic event.
Yesterday, toward the end of Fortnite’s 10th season, things took an unexpected turn for players and even at the time of writing this piece we aren’t entirely sure what’s going on. At the end of the event players were met with a catastrophic and in all honesty apocalyptic event. The chaos started with a rocket launching from the center point of the map, as the storm that had been plaguing the map all season rolled out. As the rocket launches toward space, players are met with numerous rifts and cracks in the sky, almost as though the map were falling apart. These rifts in the sky start shooting rockets across the Fortnite map. Eventually, a rocket fires on the zero point of the map, causing an explosion, pushing players into the atmosphere. A black hole is then created destroying the entire map and pulling in everything around it, players, map assets and even the Battle Bus. After all this, players are met with a screen showing a Black Hole and nothing else.
At the time players are still unable to login to the game and are simply met with the Black Hole mentioned earlier. Currently, speculation holds that Fortnite is rebooting itself with some places like Polygon calling this Fortnite: Chapter 2. If you head over to the Fortnite Twitter account you’ll see the entire account is blacked out with no essence of what’s coming next. Naturally, the game isn’t canceled as some have speculated as there are plenty of paying customers with unused V-Bucks. There were also rumors circling earlier in the week with an image posted by Ali-A from the iOS store showing Fornite: Chapter 2.
