Fortnight is all set to bring the new Playground Mode online “later tonight” according to the games dev team who took to Twitter in the last hour.
Speaking to fans on a Reddit thread, one community manager told users:
“We’ve completed our testing process for the improvements to our matchmaking services and are deploying servers that will bring back the Playground LTM.”
“You may notice that some regions or platforms gain access to this LTM before others, this is intentional and allows us to gradually open this game mode up to ease stress on all relevant backend services.
“This process may take some time. But get those creative ideas ready, our aim is to have this fully available to all players later tonight. We’re going to closely monitor our stability over this time. ”
“We’ll provide another update once we have more information.”
Now, for those wondering, Epic Games is based in North Carolina and right now it’s about 8pm in the evening. So when they say “later this evening” that could be anything from now until 5am BST Tuesday morning for folks in the UK.
As mentioned as well, it’s being rolled out gradually but who knows what state the game will be when it’s open for everyone. So to save yourself any heartache prepare for the worse.
As of right now, Asia, Oceania and Brazil are the only regions where the Playground LTM is active. However, it’s very simple to get into a Playground match simply by fudging the region you’re playing in.
Note: Since this is rolling out across various regions, this could change at minute. It could go live globally and then all you have to do is choose that mode and get playing. Until that happens, here’s how to get into a different region.
Simply login to your game as you always do, then go to Settings.
In the very first Settings tab right at the top you’ll see a ‘matchmaking region’ option. (For the longest time, mine was default set to Asia. Go figure.)
Now all you have to do is switch your region to Asia or Oceania, and voila! You’re ready to hop in and start playing around
