While we expected to see something on the upcoming Forza Horizon 5 going into the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase at E3 it was still surprising to see so much. While most games at the time were relegated to brief teaser trailers, not only did Forza have a gameplay trailer but it was also followed by a 7 minute deep dive.
Since then Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series, has yet to pull its foot off the gas pedal when it comes to hyping the game ahead of its release. A series that focuses on the many elements present in the game, the Forza Horizon – Let’s go series released its second episode which focuses on the weather.
In the video, we hear from lighting artist Lukas Koelz, art director Don Arceta, and senior lighting artist Adam Currey. While a range of topic were spoken about they dynamic weather system, that was shown off at E3, returned with more information.
Two effects that are being added to the game are tropical storms and dust storms. These storms will start to form as you drive around and should be noticeable in the distance should you spot one. This gives players the option to avoid them or live out their thrill seeker fantasies by driving straight in.
Since the game will have a range of areas to explore, you can also expect the weather to reflect the area. For instance, the desert region might receive small sprinkles of rain but will mostly be dry with an occasional dust storm. On the converse side, jungles will have heavier rain, and the coast will be prone to tropical storms.
Forza Horizon 5 will arrive on November 10 for Xbox One Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. It will be available at Launch for Xbox Games Pass.
