Following the recent leaks that affected Sony and specifically Insomniac Games as a result of a ransomware attack, it has been discovered that the developer plans to release three free DLCs for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. These include Beetle Infestation, a DLC that will seemingly launch sometime in Q4 of the 2023/2024 fiscal year. The second is Extreme Carnage, which will seemingly launch in the second quarter of the fiscal year. The third DLC listed is Spider-Verse Anomaly, which is set for Holiday 2024.More leaks suggest that the Beetle Infestation and Extreme Carnage will each feature an open world mission and a boss fight, and that Spider-Verse Anomaly will be a “Sony Pictures crossover”, that will include a mission, NPCs, and villains seen in the Spider-Verse films. Finally, the leak also suggests that a Game of the Year Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch in Holiday 2024 and will include all future content.Over 1.3 million stolen internal Insomniac files have been leaked
to the internet following a recent hack by the ransomware group Rhysida. The documents were leaked after Insomniac Games refused to pay for the return of these files which amount to 1.67 terabytes of data. These files include confidential information about several of the studio’s upcoming projects, including several images, alpha footage, and concept art, as well as financial information, projections, release dates, and more. A significant part of the leak reveals a Venom game is in development along with several Spiderman titles in the pipeline.
The Venom game is called Venom: Lethal Protector and will seemingly lead into Spider-Man 3 following the events of Spider-Man 2. The title is targeting a late 2025 release window and similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, will be a short standalone title that will last about 8-10 hours and will be priced at $50.
