Gameplay Footage for Yakuza: Like a Dragon Livestream Set for Next Week

Sega has revealed a special presentation for the recently announced new Yakuza title, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which will show off actual gameplay of the game. The presentation will take place in the after hours of the Tokyo Game Show and will give fans their first real glimpse at gameplay, including the highly-hesitant look at the newly revamped combat mechanics.

The video game company revealed that fans may tune into the livestream on September 13 at 5 AM PT/8AM ET or catch the video on their YouTube page after. There will also be a list of guests for both Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Yakuza Online for the presentation which includes the following:

Part 1: Yakuza: Like a Dragon Guests

Kazuhiro Nakaya (Ichiban Kasuga voice actor)
Masayoshi Yokoyama (chief producer)
Hiroyuki Sakamoto (producer)

Part 2: Yakuza Online Guests

Daisuke Satou (Yakuza Online guardian)
Dragon Mask No. 1 (Yakuza Online Reborn Project lead)

As of now there hasn’t been a whole lot of details revealed for the upcoming new title other than it will feature a new protagnoist and Yakuza Online star, Ichiban Kasuga. We’ve also received a decently detailed list of information on the new combat system which takes the traditional action-oriented battle system and swaps it for a more turn-based-esque style.

The new title looks to invoke a new presence in the series, as the director has stated that since the game will be featuring a new protagonist, that the combat should be different as well. And while many fans are a bit turned-off due to the change up in combat, director Toshihiro Nagoshi has reassured fans that the gameplay will still very much be an action game.

For now, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is set to release in Japan on January 16, 2020 and will release in the west sometime later in 2020 exclusively for the PS4.
