Usually, GDC has been an event in which developers and publishers take the opportunity to give fans and investors a glimpse of their newest gaming tech, wheter is a new game engine, or the progress of a developing game. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all the large events where cancelled. Big companies like Microsoft, Sony, Kojima Productions announced that due to the Coronavirus they wouldn’t attend the event, this forced organizers to postpone GDC

“Having spent the past year preparing for the show with our advisory boards, speakers, exhibitors, and event partners, we’re genuinely upset and disappointed not to be able to host you at this time .

We want to thank all our customers and partners for their support, open discussions and encouragement. As everyone has been reminding us, great things happen when the community comes together and connects at GDC. For this reason, we fully intend to host a GDC event later in the summer. We will be working with our partners to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks. Said the organizers of GDC back in February.

Both Sony and Microsoft, had  revealed the tech inside their next gen consoles, Nintendo on the other hand, also hosted a Nintendo Direct focused on the new indie games to arrive the handheld console. Considering that the big three already disclosed the information meant to be revealed at GDC, is interesting to guess how will the organizing committee will adapt the event to keep fans tuned in.
