Gearbox Software Unleashes Borderlands: GOTY, Borderlands 3 Reveal At PAX East

Amidst a flurry of technical difficulties, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and the rest of the Gearbox team finally gave fans what they’ve been yearning for: a true revealing of Borderlands 3.

During the publisher’s PAX East panel, Gearbox introduced us to a bunch of new games on the list of the company’s release schedule. Easily the most anticipated is the latest to hit the Borderlands series in Borderlands 3. However, along with the third (fourth) installment, fans also got to see plenty of other enticing reveals, as well.

Before we step into the Borderlands 3 unveiling, Gearbox also confirmed the release of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. A remastering of the decade old game will bring enhanced textures, lighting and character models to bring the original release over to modern consoles in a fitting way.

The GOTY Edition is also coming packed with all of the extra DLC, including The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution. We’ll be able to get our hands on this remastered work in just a few days, as it releases on April 3, 2019 for the PC, Xbox One and PS4.

You can check out the reveal trailer for Borderlands: GOTY Edition below:

And if you’re an owner of dual packed Handsome Collection – which includes Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – then you’ll be receiving a free visual update to the collection, adding a variety of texture enhancements for both games. Along with this news also came the reveal of all DLC heading over to Borderlands 2 VR for free this summer.

Now moving forward, near the end of the panel the small team assembled on stage finally gave us fans what we’ve been waiting and hoping for. You can check out the official Borderlands 3 Developer Trailer below:

The trailer showed off the team of four new Vault Hunters along with some interesting powers each hunter will inevitably harness. The footage shows off a few variations in biomes and landscapes which leads us to believe there will be multiple worlds to explore within the Borderlands universe. And if you’ve paid attention to the ending of the sequel, it shouldn’t be too hard to believe that that’s the direction in which they’re heading.

While there’s no official release date for Borderlands 3 as of yet, it is a load off our shoulders to finally see the reveal. And it looks great. For all of us who have been missing the cel-shaded loot ‘n’ shooter, it seems we’re finally receiving our dose of mainline Borderlands action.

Be sure to keep on the lookout for more details incoming for the recently announced Borderlands 3, as April 3 is also a tease for more information about the upcoming game.
