A leak from 2k last week gave us a glimpse at what we can expect from many of their franchises in the near future. One of those upcoming games appeared to be a new Borderlands title. This was also hinted at by Randy Pitchford in a tweet posted last month.
Well, now we know when we can expect official confirmation on the title, expect to be called Borderlands: Wonderlands. A new tweet from the company lists the Summer Games Fest as, a Geoff Keighley hosted kickoff to E3 season, to be where the first look at the game is shown.
As reported by VGC, the website this link connects to “bechaoticgreat.com” confirms through its source code that indeed the title will be known as Wonderlands.
Previous reports on the game state that it will be a spin-off of the main series focusing on fan-favorite character Tiny Tina. There have also been suggestions that the game will actually play akin to the mainline entries, with 4 playable classes to choose from. The game’s tagline actually offers some inside as to how this will work.
Years ago, in 2013 to be exact, the final DLC installment to Borderlands 2 was released (until the Borderlands 3 tie in years later). Entitled Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, the game saw Tiny Tina offer up a parody of the tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons that the player took part in. Looking at the tagline ‘Be Chaotic Great’ it is hard not to harken to the spectrum of character types present in Dungeons & Dragons. This would make it appear we might get a more fleshed-out version of the DLC.
While we can only speculate as to what the full game will have to offer, we only have a short wait of 3 days to get more information. You can also see our E3 schedule right here.
