There are over 8 minutes of new gameplay footage from the upcoming Xbox One and Windows 10 game Gears of War 4 was revealed today.
The video shows Marcus Fenix leading his son and squad through a village that could well be his hometown or his farm, judging by the vocal exchanges.
What’s most interesting about the gameplay video is the new enemy type, which appears to be cyborgs or androids. It could add a new dynamic to the action, but the way they eat bullets is kinda underwhelming. It doesn’t have the satisfying crunch of Binary Domain’s robot shattering – these just kind of soak up the bullets and then shatter into debris as they die, rather than bits of metal satisfyingly splintering off with each impact.
Gears of War 4 is due out for Xbox One and PC on October 11.
Check out the video:
“There are other new weapons, too: a Custom Lancer, a new SMG called an Enforcer, a new boxy rifle called an Overkill that is a high damage double-shot weapon of some sort, and a mid-range high power rifle called an Embar that takes a second to charge once raised.
Ship called Condors drop enemies into the fray, there’s destructible cover, and we get a look at the game’s much-vaunted weather effects.”
