Get ready for the Shadowverse Packapalooza!

Get ready for the Shadowverse Packapalooza!

Any gamer with a hangover from the Holiday Season sales can take solace that Shadowverse remains the most generous card game in existence, and to celebrate that fact – and the recent expansion, Chronogenesis, which introduced an entire new leader class to the game – eight of the world’s top streamers have spent the month of January playing the digital strategy game entirely free-to-play. Some of the world’s best card gamers, including the likes of Kripparrian and Brian Kibler have taken the dramatic step of nuking their existing Shadowverseaccounts to build competitive decks from scratch, without spending a cent, using only the resources that are available for free in the game. And this Thursday they will be competing against each other in a special tournament with those decks to duke it out to determine the free-to-play deckbuilding Shadowverse master!

The Packapalooza free-to-play extravaganza cements the reputation of Shadowverse as one of the most generous digital card games around, coming hot on the heels of the announcement that the winner of this year’s World Grand Prix will receive a cash prize of $1,000,000. Last year’s World Grand Prix event saw players representing Europe and North America pick up second and third prizes respectively: Akamarured picked up a cool $25,000 for coming in second, while JaZe took home $12,000 for coming third.

Qualification for this year’s event is already underway, with participants in the Shadowverse Open: Chronogenesis able to pick up points that will help them proceed to the finals, due to take place in Tokyo in December. Players from North America, Europe, and South-East Asia can take part in the Shadowverse Open, which launched last weekend with a quirky promotional infomercial that attests to the game’s memetastic sense of fun.

About Shadowverse
The next evolution in the collectible card game (CCG) genre, Shadowverse features a wealth of both single-player and competitive multiplayer content, and a multitude of beautifully illustrated cards.

The game has been downloaded over 14 million times and was described as “2016’s standout digital CCG” by SuperData Research. It features eight fully-voiced interweaving stories, a vast array of different deck strategies, and the ability to unlock the full potential of your favorite cards by “evolving” them mid-battle for a truly gripping strategy experience.

Shadowverse is currently available on PC via Steam, on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android devices.
