Ghost of Tsushima: Directors Cut Confirmed

An ESRB rating spotted on their website revealed that a Ghost of Tsushima directors cut was most likely in the works. While in many cases spotting, such as Walmart listings, might not be entirely reliable the ESRB is usually a credible source. This is because if something is listed on their website it was submitted by developers for a rating it requires for release. Today PlayStation tweeted a confirmation of the upcoming release.

The director’s cut is coming for both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5. The tweets also confirmed the ‘ Ghost of Ikishima‘ expansion which was rumored to be in development. It will feature a new island to explore as well as new armor, mini-games, and enemy types. There will also be more animals to pet, should players be so inclined.

This series of tweets, while mentioning features of the upcoming expansion, elects to showcase the main game during the trailer. There have been suggestions the new content will be featured during some time of PlayStation event in July.

If you are lucky enough to have a PlayStation 5 (since there is still a shortage) there are plenty of upgrades to enjoy. Haptic feedback and Adaptive triggers are two features taking advantage of the dualsense controller, while 4k resolution option and 60 FPS options take advantage of the upgraded hardware.

The most exciting feature, as a longtime fan of Yakuza, is the Japanese lip synch. This was a personal source of annoyance for me as I want to play in Japanese but the mismatching of voices with mouths made it hard for me.

Ghost of Tsushima: Directors Cut will be cutting a path onto the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2021. Ghost of Ikishima will be available the same day, both included in the directors cut, as well as separately.
