Ghost of Tsushima Gets Standalone Multiplayer Release

The first multiplayer project that developer Sucker Punch has ever undertaken, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be getting a standalone release for players that want to defend japan from the Mongolian invasion, but not get bogged down with the story mode. It will cost $20 dollars if players want to go this route, otherwise, the mode is included as part of the main game, or the Director’s Cut though it does not require the DC.

This also coincides with a host of new content that will be coming to the mode now that the Director’s Cut is out and in the open. For starters, a new mode will be joining the legends mode and is simply called Rivals. It will feature two teams two competing against each other to slay enemies, earning Magatama. This can then be used to sabotage your rival team, blocking them from using abilities, or cursing them.

Another feature arriving in the mode will be the much-needed Gear Mastery system. Previously getting level 110 gear meant you were at max, and since this gear could be used between all classes this cap quickly halted progression. Now you can bind that gear to a class and activate mastery challenges for it. This will allow you to level gear to 120 and eventually unlock a new perk slot.

Back when the Director’s Cut was launched, the Legends mode was tweaked for better balancing as well. These included “rebalanced the Survival mode to shorten the session length and added new weekly Survival Nightmare challenge variants.”

Personally, as somebody who loved Ghost of Tsushima, I would recommend if you are thinking of getting it getting everything with the Director’s Cut for tons of fun. However, I always appreciate when companies create multiple ways to enjoy their game based on preference. All this is available now, with more updates stated to be coming in the future.
