Ghostbusters Video Game Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on July 12

Activision is working on a new Ghostbusters game due for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC this summer.

Heading to North America on July 12, the game is said to be a 4-player top-down RPG that sees a brand new cast of rookie members called in to keep New York City safe following the events of this year’s movie. Players will get to play as both male and female characters, and make use of the franchise’s famous Proton Packs to exterminate ghosts.

In a debut trailer, the new video game is revealed to be a four-player cooperative action game. It looks similar to 2011’s Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, which was developed by Behaviour Interactive and released on PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360. Sanctum of Slime was an isometric action game that featured four new Ghostbusters. The newest Ghostbusters appear to be a quartet of high school students.

Check out the Trailer:

“This is a third-person action role-playing game positively charged for thrilling couch co-op with up to four players locally. As rookie Ghostbusters, players can level up their characters’ gear and abilities by tackling objectives, defeating ghastly creatures and discovering hidden collectibles in Manhattan’s most haunted haunts. There are four heroes to choose from, and each has his or her own unique personality and play style, bringing special strengths to support the team.”
