Ghostwire: Tokyo Gets Release Date And Showcase

Ghostwire: Tokyo

, the bizarre new IP from The Evil Within studio Tango Gameworks, has received a release date of March 25th, 2022. Originally the title was planned to release in 2021, but it received a delay amid growing Covid-19 concerns in Tokyo, over the summer in which the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were set to play out. At the time the country was already in its fourth State of Emergency due to the pandemic.

Along with this announcement, PlayStations official YouTube is set to give the game an official showcase for the game that will be held on February 3th, 2022 at 5 PM Eastern Time, 2 PM Pacific Time. Sony has already announced that Ghostwire: Tokyo will receive a Deluxe Edition that will offer 3-day early access to the game, as well as bonus content that will be included in this version.

Announced in 2019 during the Bethesda Showcase at E3, Ghostwire: Tokyo is the latest Horror title from Tango Gameworks, a studio founded by Horror Game legend Shinji Mikami, who created Resident Evil in the 90s. The game itself is being directed by Kenji Kimura, with Mikami serving as Executive Producer.

In the game, players will battle supernatural and occult forces in Tokyo, using spectral powers as you attempt to find the root cause of strange disappearances occurring across Tokyo. The game will also be played from a First-Person Perspective.

This will be the second of two games to release exclusively on PlayStation from the recently acquired Zenimax, which was purchased by Microsoft for $7 billion dollars. The first game to do so was last year’s well-received Deathloop, from Arkane Studios. Phile Spencer stated at the time of acquisition they would honor all deals that were in place prior to Microsoft’s purchase, and they have continued to do just that.
