God of War: Ragnarok On Track For 2022 Release

Sony has reiterated that God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to Sony Santa Monica’s 2018 reboot God of War, is still on track for its intended 2022 release. This past weekend Sony tweeted out a listicle of sorts, showcasing several games that have 2022 release dates while boasting that they have 22 games coming within the year. One of the games showcased on this list was God of War: Ragnarok.

Among the titles listed are Elden Ring, Gran Tourismo 7, and Horizon: Forbidden West all of which have release dates in the first three months of this year. A few others on the list such as Ghostwire Tokyo, Stray, and God of War: Ragnarok still remain with tentative release windows but all are targeting 2022 for their release. It does make clear, however, that at least in Sonys’ eyes, the game is still heading for an on-time release.

God of War: Ragnarok had already suffered a delay when it was pushed from 2021 which Kratos’ voice actor Christopher Judge stated was due to health reasons on his part, something the studio showed him unconditional support during. While never given an official date, the studio confirmed late last year that 2021 was the intended year of release and that they needed to delay it into 2022.

Last week PC fans of the series were finally able to play the first game in the reboot, with the 2018 God of War releasing on the platform to an extremely positive reception. There is no clear idea as to when the sequel might see a release on PC but it is important to note that Sony purchased Nixxes last year, a developer known for their PC ports, assumably to streamline the process of porting their titles with the company vowing to make the platform a bigger part of their plans in the future.
