Daedalic Entertainment’s Lord of the Rings: Gollum was just showcased at Future Games Show, project manager Saide Haberstroh, shared more information about the interesting action-adventure project. As expected, the game is aiming to deliver the perfect Gollum experience, the main character is very vulnerable so, he will rely on the good judgment of the player.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum is designed to blur the line between story and gameplay, players will have to choose between fighting, avoiding detection, or manipulating enemies to escape from danger.

Sticking to Daedalic tradition of games we immerse players deeply Gollum’s inner conflict, to tell a very personal story in from the epic world-changing events in middle-earth, interwoven with this twisted character, gameplay-wise we have ranged between subtle tactical stealth, some environmental puzzles, climbing challenges, and fast-paced parkour action. Gollum is not exactly a fighter who charges into battle, players will have to weight their option for every encounter.
The main character is former-hobbit conflicted with his past identity as Smeagol, this duality will give players a Dialog system, basically, the gameplay will slow down as the player reflects on taking the Gollum or Smeagol path.
“You as a player have to manifest a choice, so you have to press a button multiple times in order to manifest your option but the options are also flying around the screen so it’s not that easy and it also can happen that sometimes the player has another outcome than expected, but this is also depending on the other choices that the player made, whether the player is more on Gollum’s or Smeagol’s side some option will be easier or harder to get”
Lord of the Rings: Gollum is currently scheduled for a 2021 release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
