Google Stadia Free Trial Coming Soon

According to CNET reports, Google Stadia will have a free tier of their cloud gaming service coming in the “next few months”. The news was shared by Stadia boss Phill Harrison, in an interview with Protocol.

“The big strategic difference is that over the next few months you will be able to experience Stadia for free” … “No money down, without having to put a box in your home, you can just click and play amazing games straight from our data center.” Harrison said to Protocol.

Google’s cloud gaming service launched recently in November 2019, but so far the service has not been received very well by gamers. One of Stadia’s main problem is the fact that, there is not enough games to encourage players to subscribe to a $129 for a Founder’s Edition. It is worth mentioning that Google is planning a $9.99 a month subscription for the nearby future.

Offering the service for free might help the company to steer the ship and avoid a total disaster of their big project, for the time being, nothing has been lost for Google, with big people in the gaming industry acknowledging Google’s attempt as a big competition, for example, Xbox’s boss Phil Spencer who recently said Google and Amazon are their main competitors for the future of gaming, a future that will be won by whom is willing to invest the most in cloud based services.

When you talk about Nintendo and Sony, we have a ton of respect for them, but we see Amazon and Google as the main competitors going forward … I don’t want to be in a fight over format wars with those guys while Amazon and Google are focusing on how to get gaming to 7 billion people around the world.” Phil Spencer said to Protocol.

Will you be signing up for Stadia’s free tier when it’s available? Are you interested in the game currently offered? Let me know in the comment section below.
