PlayStation Brazil posted yesterday a poll in Twitter, the Brazilian division of the company ask fans which games they rather playing in a coach with friends, the official account let slip in one of the options Gran Turismo 7 as a title for the PlayStation. The account quickly changed the ‘7’ for sports but comments are still available which corroborates that was in fact an official PlayStation account which suggested that Gran Turismo 7 is actually happening.

Gran Turismo has a chronologically correct sequence of releases, but the franchise has a large variety of releases , from free demos, to paid demos premium demos Like Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Polyphony Digital released twelve games in the Gran Turismo Series since its introduction in 1999. Newcomers to the franchise might be actually confused to learn that there are more than titles that what most fans can remember.
Gran Turismo Sports launched in 2017 and managed disappointing numbers compared to its predecessors, mainly for it’s lack of Simulation mode, players complained that the game did not feel like the second or fourth entry which are still the best in the series. Polyphony Digital has been working consistently delivering free updates for players, introducing new cars and new features.
Polyphony Digital’s President and Creator of the game Kazunori Yamauchi has opened talks about the next game in the series, confirming that Sony won’t abandon the IP and will return to the classic simulation mode.
“On the other hand, obviously we’re working on the next Gran Turismo already, and the world of sport we’ve achieved through GT Sport is something I’ve always imagined to be the future of Gran Turismo(…)I think the next title that we’re going to create will be a combination of the past, present and future–a complete form of Gran Turismo” – Kazunori Yamauchi
, suggesting that there is a focus on a new project.
