Gran Turismo 7 Upgrade and Anniversary Content Revealed

When Sony reversed its decision to charge for Horizon: Forbidden West upgrades between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 it was made clear that in the future that upgrading would cost money. This has been made very clear for Gran Turismo 7, which will be releasing a little over a week after when Horizon is set to launch.

Sony has now laid out the plan for Gran Turismo 7 in anticipation of its launch early next year through a post on PlayStation Blog. It will include an upgrade fee should you purchase it on PlayStation 4 and wish to get it on PlayStation 5, as well as a 25th Anniversary Edition that will include both versions of the game.

Like most PlayStation first-party games, the real sim racing game will cost $69.99 on the PlayStation 5 and $59.99 on the PlayStation 4. To upgrade the game you will simply need to purchase the upgrade on the PlayStation Store, which simply acts to cover the $10 dollar difference between the games. The Launch Edition of the game, as the base model of the game, is referred too will also include:

  • Toyota Castrol TOM’S Supra
  • Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Concept (Stealth)
  • Porsche 917K Living Legend
  • 100,000 in-game Credit (CR)

It will include the Porsche 917K Living Legend which is part of the partnership between the car manufacture and Polyphony Digital which was first announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019. For those looking the get everything, the 25th Anniversary Edition will be available for $89.99.

  • In-Game Credits – 1,600,000 CR
  • Toyota GR Yaris with country specific Livery
  • 30 Manufacturer / Partner Avatars
  • The Music of Gran Turismo Official Soundtrack

  • Mazda RX-VISION GT3 Concept (Stealth)
  • Porsche 917K Living Legend

As stated, if you are looking to get both versions of the game for whatever reason this might be the version for you. It will also include a large number of car-themed avatars, as well as the soundtrack. There will also be a digital version offering the same content if you prefer to go disk-less or have a digital PlayStation 5.

Gran Turismo 7 is slated to drift onto consoles on March 4, 2022. It has been confirmed that much of the campaign will require an internet connection to play.
