Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editions Available For Pre-Order

Several rumors flew around this year about the possibility of the first 3 3d Grand Theft Auto‘s getting an unreal engine upgrade and remaster. It took a while but Rockstar confirmed this a few weeks ago, leaving us all to wonder when the games might actually be released. With Rockstar saying these upgraded GTA games would drop before the end of this year, and this year being almost over, it stood to reason we did not have long to wait before some kind of announcement.

Today the company dropped a new trailer for the games, giving players their first look at what the upgrade would look like, as well as setting a release date and pricing scheme. For those looking for some big, grandiose change this is not that, but the game will most certainly have nicer to look at buildings and a more vibrant color palette this time around.

The trailer gives a classic before and after effect to what certain environments looked like in their classic versions and previous re-releases before showing the upgraded models. The weirdest part was seeing the new character models, that keep much of the same shape just more polished and glossy. The game also implements fingers to the characters, removing their signature glove hands, but keeps the entirety of the glove hand animation.

The official page for the game went live through Rockstar, showcasing the release dates and offering Pre-Orders on the digital games across multiple platforms.

The game will be available on November 11th digitally, and December 6 if you were hoping to get it physically which will cost $60 dollars, effectively pricing each game at around $20. Grove Street Games, the studio that handled the mobile ports of the original games previously, is the studio that had handled these remasters. The games will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
