Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster Gets More Leaks

Industry insiders began leaking a few months ago that Rockstar Dundee was currently working on a Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster, upgrading parts of the game using the Unreal Engine while keeping the games mostly in tack as people remember them This was originally suggested to be planned as an offering to players purchasing Grand Theft Auto V for the umpteenth time when it releases on the newest consoles, but due to multiple delays of that port and assumably the fact the games could sell on their own have changed that plan.

We have now seen multiple hints that the game is indeed coming, and probably close to an official announcement. The first of these has been leaked imaging of their logos which showcase the basic title cards from the PS2 and Xbox OG era games but bear the title “The Definitive Edition” under each name. These titles are also outlined in gold.

Another indicator pointing to these games being real comes from a rating board in Korea, which published a rating for “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition”. This suggests that the subtitle from the images above and the games are indeed real.

If that wasn’t enough, as it turns out the Rockstar Games Launcher also became a source for a leak as well. Dataminers exploring the launcher found code pertaining to the games in a recently released update for the PC marketplace. All the listings mark the game as “unreal” which again lends credence to the already existing rumors.

These games have been rumored to be released as a Trilogy set or individually digitally for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and mobile. In the case of the Nintendo Switch, we might see these games released as cloud games, similar to how the Kingdom Hearts series is set to release.
