According to an allegedly former Rockstar employee, Grand Theft Auto VI map will be very similar to San Andreas, featuring three major cities and one small town. The main difference from the PS2 title is that the map will be as big as “Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined”.

The leak also claims the game will be set in the 1980s before it skips to the present, a change of protagonist is expected to take place during the change in eras. Weapons will have a much more realistic feel compared to Grand Theft Auto V.
When it comes to missions, they are described as “not as linear” compared to RDR2 and GTA V. It’s also said that this only goes for most of the missions – not all of them.
The special abilities for the main characters will be included in the new game and it’s said that the only one that is similar to GTA V is going be the ability of Walther Wallace whose gameplay will include a feature similar to Franklin’s Driving Focus.
In January 2020, Darion Lowenstein, an experienced developer who worked at Activision, Scopely, Electronic Arts and Rockstar, expects that Rockstar Games will announce Grand Theft Auto VI sometime this year. Rockstar Gamesis actually producing a new game, this was suggested by the company’s appeal to the Video Games Tax Relief with HMRC.
Following that confirmation from Rockstar Games, several people started to affirm to have information about the game who according to them, is in an advanced development stage.
Former Kotaku employee, Jason Schreier, did an investigation article about the crunch culture at Rockstar Games, the reporter claims that the next Grand Theft Auto game is currently on development. Schreier also affirms that Rockstar has opted for a different approach in the next installment of GTA, the game would release on a smaller scale and would later be expanded through DLC.
