With under a week to go before Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition releases, Rockstar has released a number of new screenshots for the titles running on the Nintendo Switch. These images, taken from the Nintendo Switch page for the game on Rockstar’s GTA Trilogy page and showcase a range of scenes across the three games featured in the remaster.
Some of these feature gameplay such as a scene of Claud from GTA III walking in the middle of the street in Chinatown, or CJ from San Andreas driving a motorcycle and trying to outrun cops. Others showcase the world, such as the Oceanview motel which should be familiar to any fan of Vice City. One of the images is of a cutscene between Tommy Vercetti and Ken Rosenberg, also from Vice City, giving a better look at the improved character models being used.
All things considered, the upgrades that the team at Rockstar has done, improving the nearly two-decade-old games is very noticeable with the faces of the lead cast looking far more fleshed out. The world too looks noticeably improved, though of course, the game is a mixture of graphical improvements and unchanged elements. The unfortunate part is that these games are replacing their original counterparts on the digital stores, though this will be the first time in a long time Nintendo has had a GTA on their console.
Of course, as it should be noted, several lighting effects and textures have been downgraded in comparison to the versions released on other consoles. With the Kingdom Hearts recently releasing as cloud versions on the Nintendo Switch, we should all just be happy the games will be actually ON the Switch.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launches on November 11 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
