CD PROJEKT RED has announced a festive winter event for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, implementing a holiday-themed game board, new challenges, rewards, and in-store offers to GWENT on PC and iOS.
The holiday event begins December 19, 2019 and runs until January 9, 2020; it introduces a free Winter Game Board, which features “regular opportunities to win special presents by destroying possessed snowmen who randomly appear across the festive battlefield.” Presents include cardbacks, resources, borders, avatars, and the chance of a rare item. Players interested in the GWENT holiday event can also view the trailer.
In addition, the event adds a new title for players, ‘Midwinter Wanderer.’
Moreover, players can participate in a “special Yule Challenge, choosing to support one of two sides: Santa Crach or Wraith of Yule,” until January 2, 2020. Those who complete specific challenges and quests during the event will earn reward points, as well as ”contribute to the total point tally for their side.” Whichever side claims victory will then earn XP boosts for all of its players.
Furthermore, the in-game store is also receiving multiple limited-time offers. Ultimate Premium Kegs, Mirror Shards, and winter-themed ornaments (titles, borders, avatars, and a special Christmas leader skin for Crach and Craite) will be available for purchase. These items come alongside a winter sale during the event, where certain expansion-themed items “will be available for 30% off, every weekend until January 6, [2020].”
GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is available for free on PC and iOS.
From CD PROJEKT RED: “In GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, gamers clash with their friends in fast-paced duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction. The game is played over a best-of-three series of rounds, as players unleash their hand by slinging spells and diverse units with special abilities, and use clever tricks to deceive their opponents.”
