Half Life: Alyx
is the first game in the franchise after 12 years, it’s a VR game being developed with Source 2 engine. Players will use VR to interact with the environment and fight enemies, similar to the ‘Gravity Gun’ from Half-Life 2 players will count with ‘Gravity Gloves’ as way to interact and manipulate objects. Half-Life: Alyx will feature plenty of puzzles, and physics-based combat.
Valve has made it clear, that even if the gameplay is different from previous games, Half-Life: Alyx is not a spin-off, is the “next part” in the story. Half-Life: Alyx follows the story of Alyx Vance and her father Eli, who creates a resistance to the occupation of Earth by The Combine.
Half-Life: Alyx will supports all PC-compatible VR headsets, including the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest and Windows Mixed Reality. The gameplay is designed around VR, being this the case a non-VR version is impossible. Half-Life: Alyx will also support user mods via the Steam Workshop.
