Halo Infinite Beta Could Start As Early As This Weekend

The technical preview, as 343 Industries calls it, for their upcoming game Halo Infinite could be live as early as this weekend. This is according to a blog post, posted by the studio on their official website. According to the post, the studio is getting “very close” to entering their promised beta, but note that there are still a few things left to finish before they do.

The studio stated in their blog post:

We need to ensure we’ve successfully cleared our final gate before we’re officially a go. That said, we’ve been given the okay to say our first Bot-focused technical preview could happen as soon as next weekend.

Signing up to participate in the Beta is simple. When the game was showcased at E3 this year a program named Halo Insider was announced alongside it. While this mostly acts as a source of information for gamers excited for Halo, it also acts as registration for the beta.

A large number of people have signed up so far to participate in the beta so far, with “hundreds of thousands” being selected from this pool to participate. After that, if all things go according to the plan, more players will be invited to join. As stated in the blog post:

We want to start at a reasonable number of participants before potentially going to a much larger player pool, but our goal is to eventually get every eligible Halo Insider a chance to go hands-on and help us achieve our goals on the road to launch. Remember, if you don’t get in this time, please don’t despair–more opportunities will come.

Before the technical test is kicked off, the studio will hold a live stream to go over what is planned and walk players through “every facet of the technical preview.” What players will be playing is actually an older version of the game that is, as the studio put it “a couple of months behind” where the current build of the game is. As such, the studio warns you should expect “some bumps and rough edges.” The studio doesn’t seem worried about this as this test will not be blocked behind an NDA meaning participates are free to stream it.

The blog post includes lots of other details, way more than I could go over here. If you would like to read the full post, you can do so here.
