Microsoft has no plans of showing anything for Halo: Infinite at this year’s Video Game Awards. The VGA’s are traditionally developers’ last chance of showing viewers, investors, and the rest of the industry what’s to come before the end of the quarter, and Microsoft is no slouch when it comes to showcasing what they have in the works. During a Weekly Discussion Thread yesterday, however, community director at 343 Industries, Brian Jarrad, spoke on reddit about how the recent release shift has affected how the company is moving forward in the next few months.“Right now we’re still going through the huge cascade of implications and ramifications to the release shift and the team is heads down working through nearly every facet of the game.” said Jarrad. “Full disclosure we don’t have anything planned for the VGAs, but are hoping to offer at least a high level update within the next few weeks so we can kind of restart this journey together after the holidays. Pulling together something like a demo or big beat for the VGAs is an enormous amount of work and would cause challenges with current milestones of the holidays.”As the game was supposed to be released in the next few weeks, before the VGAs, the team would have to make a promotional trailer from scratch in a month’s time. This would mean devoting man hours to something they do not see value in prioritizing, when they know they are already behind on the release.Fans gave mixed responses, but the overwhelming majority was supportive and just happy to hear something from 343. Last fans heard from the developers was the announcement of the delay in August after a campaign reveal trailer that was met with a lackluster response.I know it’s hard to wait, but the team is going to make the most of this extra time and we want to make sure we can put our best foot forward and commit to greater transparency and dialog on the road ahead. We’ll get there and get the train going again.”Based on their community engagement and recent hiring of previous Bungie members, it is clear that Microsoft understands how important this series is to its fans and they are hard at work to provide the best experience possible.Halo: Infinite
has been delayed to a 2021 release for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
